What advice would you give to a graduating college student who wants your job?
I would give some of the same advice my father gave me. Learn not just your job, but your industry. Pay attention to what works and what doesn’t. Learn from your failures as well as the failures of others. And most importantly, always keep in mind that technology is a tool for enhancing the business in which it operates. No one really cares which vendor, platform or programming language you are using if the systems do a stellar job of supporting the success of the organization.
